Over time an important source of contamination of surface water is represented by the municipal waste landfills or other solid waste that do not comply with the rules of storage and that are located in major river beds of the watercourses. The surface water pollution with heavy metals resulting from these deposits has a destructive character on aquatic fauna and flora and through the process of bioaccumulation, on animals and people. In this paper the author presents the ecological risk evaluation in the case of a potential heavy metal pollution of river Barlad, these metals deriving from the municipal landfill of the Vaslui County located near the riverbed.en_US
