Abstract

The need for housing is a basic need, especially following the growth of population and the migration from rural villages towards large cities. The formation of slums around all large cities is a global phenomenon. Starting from the definition of slums, an attempt is made to study several phenomena linked with the formation of poverty satellite settlements, from social causes to specific architecture typologies and economic structures.
