dc.description.abstractA simple, sensitive and accurate spectrophotometric method was proposed for the micro determination of molybdenum(VI) using salicylaldehyde acetoacetic acid hydrazone (SAAH) as a reagent. The method was based on the formation of 1:2 complex between the molybdenum(VI) and SAAH. The optimum conditions for the determination were established. The Beer’s law was applicable in the range 0.097 to 0.968 μ g/mL. The molar absorption coefficient, Sandell’s sensitivity and stability constant (β) of the complex were found to be 160.00 × 103 L mol-1 cm-1, 5.998 × 10–4 μg cm–2 and1.425 × 1010 respectively. The influence of interferences on the proposed method was studied and presented. The method was successfully applied for the determination of synthetic mixtures and alloys containing molybdenum(VI).en_US
