Measurement methods based on Vector Network Analyzer, for the determination of the refractive index of a medium, are described. The refractive index is obtained from the phase velocity of the radiofrequency signal along a microstrip line embedded in the considered medium. Simple structures are used for this purpose and advantages and disadvantages of different methods are discussed.en_US
