Abstract: This paper discuses the approach of increasing the linearity of transconductor cells using adaptive bias currents. Adaptive biasing proves to be a powerful technique that may be used to obtain a very linear voltage-to-current conversion. The advantages of this method are its simplicity and its applicability in designing current-mode circuits that can handle wide dynamic range signals without introducing significant (harmonic) distortions. In this paper a 6th order, gm-C, Chebyshev band-pass filter is designed to demonstrate the excellent linearity of adaptively-biased transconductors.
