Abstract: Being highly crystallized and ritualized, religious discourse may appear to always display very specific, well-defined characteristics. In this paper, we briefly touch upon ideolects and sociolects to bring to the fore the idea that there are contexts in which this type of discourse loses its rigidity in favour of more creative means of expression. Collocations are discussed against this idea, while taking a translation-oriented perspective on them.
