Abstract: The aim of this study is to explore the dual character of the electrochemical techniques and electrode materials for the application in pharmaceuticals-containing water treatment and control. It is noteworthy that electrode materials for water quality monitoring are conceptually very similar to those used in the degradation of pollutants from water. Thus, the development of suitable electrode materials and electrochemical techniques involves actually relatively easy adaptation from a field to another, taking into account the specific application peculiarities (e.g., electrode geometry, design and operating conditions for degradation application).
