dc.description.abstractThis paper proposes an optimal tuning of Proportional-Integral-Differential (PID) controller in Load Frequency Control (LFC) using Adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization (APSO). The proposed algorithm is based on tuning of Particle Swarm Optimization’s (PSO) control parameters by Pattern Search (PS) method. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated using traditional cost function - the integral of time absolute error (ITAE).The simulations are carried out for two area power system with the proposed method. The results show that proposed PID controller improves the performance of the LFC than PSO.en_US
