Abstract: Objectives of the thesis:  to introduce a novel linear permanent magnet oscillatory machine;  to develop electromagnetic, thermal and mechanical finite element analysis;  to implement a optimal design program based on FEM derived data;  to implement an open-loop control of the purposed linear machine;  to introduce FEM based position estimators for sensorless closed loop control purposes;  to implement a sensorless position closed loop control of the purposed linear machine.
