Collocations are elements that must be given special attention in translation, because they are essential for the correctness and the naturalness of any target text. Starting from the assumption that target texts reflect the norms followed by the text producer, the author examines a series of political speeches in English, along with their official Romanian variants, with a view to identifying the manner in which the Romanian translators of such texts should deal with their collocations and specific expressions.-
