Leadership discourse, context and storytelling – A theoretical approach [articol]

Leadership discourse, context and storytelling – A theoretical approach [articol]
Zelter, Diana Christine; Nan, Ioana Gabriela
This article examines leadership discourse from an applied linguistic perspective, arguing that leadership is best understood as a dynamic, context-bound process enacted through communication rather than as a fixed personal attribute or hierarchical position. Drawing on discourse-analytic approaches such as conversation analysis and interactional sociolinguistics, it explores how leadership emerges collaboratively in interaction and is shaped by organizational, cultural, and technological contexts. Particular attention is given to storytelling as a strategic and constitutive practice through which leaders construct meaning, foster alignment and commitment, and shape organizational identity, demonstrating that language constitutes the primary medium through which leadership is accomplished and sustained.

Exploring students’ views on note-taking during interpreting tasks [articol]
Velimirovici, Iasmina; Şimon, Simona
Note-taking is largely considered an important support tool for performance during consecutive interpreting. Thus, note-taking is commonly taught as an aid to memory within interpreter training programmes. In order to research students’ views towards note-taking, a survey was conducted using a semi-structured group interview with a small group of Masters’ students. A set of questions with follow-up probes was administered to participants, further analysed thematically. The study explores the learner’s perspective, focusing on students’ attitudes towards note-taking strategies, their confidence in using symbols and the main cognitive demands they experience during interpreting tasks. Findings reveal several key patterns, ranging from confidence issues to variations between taught conventions and actual practice. The insights from this study may inform future, larger-scale research on interpreting pedagogy and note-taking competence.

Kompetenzen im Fokus. Landeskundeunterricht an rumänischen Hochschulen im Wandel [articol]
Stancu, Andrea Susanne

The new era of translation: Co-evolution of human and machine translation. The integration of artificial Iitelligence (AI) in the pre-translation phase of economic news [articol]

The new era of translation: Co-evolution of human and machine translation. The integration of artificial Iitelligence (AI) in the pre-translation phase of economic news [articol]
Sărmașiu, Andreea-Maria
In this paper, the author examines the co-evolution of human and machine translation within the field of economic journalism. Employing a comparative analysis of the pre-translation phase of economic news, integrating artificial and human intelligence, this research investigates the evolving role of human translators. The findings indicate that while AI-based translation systems have made substantial progress in handling economic terminology and time-sensitive content, human intervention remains indispensable for ensuring accuracy, preserving contextual meaning, and managing complex economic discourse. Furthermore, the study highlights the translator’s shift from traditional linguistic mediation to post-editing and strategic decision-making in the pre-translation phase of economic news.
