dc.description.abstract This thesis mainly addresses to the seismic protection of building framed structures located in earthquake prone areas by using pre-qualified buckling restrained braces. Numerical and experimental procedures were used to develop, test and qualify BRB technical solutions. The complex numerical models developed for the steel material and the qualified BRBs could be used for the development and pre-qualification through numerical testing of new BRBs solutions. Design recommendations are given as to transfer the "know-how" on BRBs to the industry. en_US
