dc.description.abstract The thesis investigates the use of steel framed structures for low rise residential buildings. The main practical objective of the thesis is to analyze and validate the field results obtained by our design team during the last decade, and to demonstrate in the process the interest of implementing, on a larger scale, such construction methods on the Romanian residential market. The thesis is divided in 7 chapters and demonstrates the viability and efficiency of steel frame structures for low rise residential construction, by means of critical analysis and experimental investigation.
