dc.description.abstract Media platforms are being increasingly used in the communication between states. Nowadays, Twitter is one of the platforms that state representatives rely on to communicate with their counterparts abroad. At the same time, we are witnessing an information revolution that allows the emergence of new social media platforms that facilitate communication between various entities, also offering total transparency. This new dynamic allowed the emergence of new research methods that adapted to the new technologies. This paper will indicate how the sentiment analysis method successfully identified trends and patterns in China`s discourse on Twitter. Furthermore, we will demonstrate the importance of digital diplomacy and which methods are best suited for the Twitter platform in order to assess the diplomatic strategy of a state. en_US
