Abstract: The present thesis wishes to offer a possible solution to the problem of interconnecting two or more energy sources through a multi-input DC-DC converter. A brief presentation of the main multiinput DC-DC converters proposed in literature and a comparative study of them has been presented in the thesis. New dual input DC-DC converters with classical cell and hybrid inductor/ capacitors structures have been proposed. Analytical study, operating modes, simulation and experimental results have been included in the thesis. After a comparative study of the proposed converters one topology has been chosen and a complete description with boundary conduction mode analysis has been given. Finally an application with renewable energy sources has been proposed for the integration of the chosen converter. Operation strategy, system description and a adequate control strategy has been given. Two simulation have been carried out for the proposed system: a cosimulation between Matlab and Plecs for the specific study of the converter behavior, and a simulation only in Matlab for the experimental implementation of the system. A prototype of the system has been built and preliminary results are given. The proposed converter can be used in automotive industry for the interconnection of the multiple energy sources used for the automobils.
