Abstract:
Among all issues related to Content Based Image Retrieval systems, retrieving images based on shapes is an important one. In the paper a contour-based approach to shape representation and similarity measure is presented. The shape representation is based on centroid radii and turning angle. The proposed algorithm is invariant to translation, scale and rotation. The effectiveness of algorithm in the content-based retrieval of shapes is illustrated using a database of synthetic shapes. The results of the experiments show the competitiveness of the algorithm.
