Abstract:
The aim of this research is to analyse the faults occurring in a 3 phase transmission system. There are several types of controllers used to control the faults occurring in the transmission line but they do not proved to be better in terms of efficiency and cost effectiveness. There is some power loss beyond permitted level, which is the major disadvantage that should be avoided in a transmission system and further the fault control process is more complex. To overcome all the disadvantages caused by other transmission line fault controllers the proposed method introduces the Unified Power Flow controller (UPFC) to control the faults occurring in the 3 phase transmission system which proved to be more effective than other 3 phase transmission line fault controllers. The proposed method is tested with a wind form model; a 3 phase fault is introduced in a transmission line of 500 KV. The UPFC controller effectively controls all the power parameters within their specified values thereby controlling the 3 phase fault caused in the transmission line effectively and the method is closer to 100% efficiency.
